Installation Guide

Complete guide to installing Mafkers on Windows, macOS, and Linux.

System Requirements

Hardware:

• RAM: 4GB minimum, 8GB recommended
• Disk: 200MB free space
• Internet connection (for LLM API)

Download

Visit mafkers.com/download and choose your platform.

Windows

1. Download Mafkers-1.0.0-x64-setup.exe
2. Run the installer
3. Follow the setup wizard
4. Mafkers will be installed to C:\Program Files\Mafkers\

Alternative: Install via Winget:

winget install Mafkers.Mafkers

macOS

1. Download Mafkers-1.0.0-aarch64.dmg (Apple Silicon) or Mafkers-1.0.0-x64.dmg (Intel)
2. Open the .dmg file
3. Drag Mafkers to Applications folder
4. First launch: Right-click → Open (to bypass Gatekeeper for unsigned apps)

Alternative: Install via Homebrew:

brew install --cask mafkers

Linux

1. Download Mafkers-1.0.0-x86_64.AppImage
2. Make it executable:

chmod +x Mafkers-1.0.0-x86_64.AppImage

3. Run:

./Mafkers-1.0.0-x86_64.AppImage

Alternative: Install via Flatpak:

flatpak install flathub com.mafkers.Mafkers

First Launch

1. Open Mafkers
2. Click “Sign in with Mafkers Account”
3. Your browser will open - sign in with Google, Discord, GitHub, or email magic link
4. After signing in, you’ll be redirected back to the app automatically
5. You’re ready to translate games!

Verify Download Integrity

Each release includes SHA-256 checksums. Verify before installing:

Windows:

certutil -hashfile Mafkers-1.0.0-x64-setup.exe SHA256

macOS/Linux:

shasum -a 256 Mafkers-1.0.0-aarch64.dmg

Compare the output with the checksum displayed on the download page.

Auto-Update

Mafkers automatically checks for updates on startup. When an update is available:

1. A notification banner appears
2. Click “Update now”
3. Mafkers downloads and installs the update
4. The app restarts automatically

Updates are signed with Ed25519 signatures for security.
