First Translation

Step-by-step guide to translating your first game with Mafkers.

This guide walks you through translating your first game with Mafkers.

Prerequisites

  • Mafkers installed (see Installation Guide)
  • Signed in to your Mafkers account
  • A game you legally own (Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store)

Step 1: Open Mafkers

Launch Mafkers. You should see the main screen with a “Select Game Folder” button.

Step 2: Select Your Game

  1. Click “Select Game Folder”
  2. Navigate to your game installation folder

Finding Your Game Folder

Steam:

  1. Right-click the game in your Steam Library
  2. Select “Manage” → “Browse local files”

GOG Galaxy:

  1. Right-click the game
  2. Select “Manage installation” → “Open folder”

Epic Games Launcher:

  1. Click the game in your Library
  2. Click the settings icon
  3. Click “Open folder”

Step 3: Select Target Language

From the dropdown, select your target language:

  • Bahasa Indonesia (default)
  • English
  • Vietnamese
  • Thai
  • Portuguese (BR)
  • Spanish (LatAm)

Step 4: Click “Translate”

Click the “Translate” button. Mafkers will:

  1. Analyze your game (detect engine, version)
  2. Backup original files
  3. Extract text strings
  4. Protect tags and proper nouns
  5. Translate via AI (DeepSeek V3 + Claude Sonnet 4.5)
  6. Validate translation integrity
  7. Inject translations back into game files
  8. Verify file integrity

Progress is shown in real-time. Typical duration:

  • Indie game (small): 1-2 minutes
  • Indie game (medium): 5-10 minutes
  • AA game: 15-30 minutes
  • AAA game: 1-3 hours

Step 5: Select Language In-Game

After Mafkers completes:

  1. Launch your game
  2. Open Options → Language
  3. Select “Indonesian” (or your chosen language)
  4. The game is now in your language!

Congratulations!

You’ve successfully translated your first game. The translation mod is stored locally and will persist across game launches.

Troubleshooting

“Engine not detected”

Your game’s engine may not be supported. Check the Engine Support Matrix.

“Game crashes after mod”

  1. Open Mafkers → History
  2. Click “Rollback” on the failed project
  3. Your game will be restored to original state
  4. Report the issue on Discord

“Translation quality is poor”

Free tier uses DeepSeek V3 (budget model). For higher quality:

  1. Upgrade to Pro ($9.99/mo)
  2. Pro tier includes Claude Sonnet 4.5 quality polish

“Mod broke after game update”

Use Smart Re-patching:

  1. Open Mafkers → History
  2. Click “Re-patch” on the outdated project
  3. Mafkers only re-translates changed strings (saves 80-95% cost)
