Common Issues
Solutions to the most common issues when using Mafkers.
Game Not Detected
Problem: Mafkers says “Engine not detected” when selecting game folder.
Solutions:
- Make sure you selected the correct folder (not a subfolder)
- Check if your game’s engine is supported: Engine Support Matrix
- Some games use custom engines that Mafkers doesn’t support yet
- Report on Discord with the game name and engine info
Game Crashes After Mod
Problem: Game crashes or shows errors after applying Mafkers translation.
Solutions:
- Rollback immediately: Open Mafkers → History → click “Rollback”
- This restores your game to its original state
- Report the crash on Discord with:
- Game name and version
- Engine (if known)
- Error message (if any)
- Try translating to a different target language slot (Smart Language Mapping)
Translation Quality Is Poor
Problem: Translation reads like machine translation, stiff or unnatural.
Solutions:
- Upgrade to Pro: Pro tier uses Claude Sonnet 4.5 for quality polish (vs DeepSeek V3 in Free)
- Use Custom Glossary: Add character/item names to glossary for consistency
- Manual Edit: After translation, you can manually edit individual strings in the app
- Report specific issues: Share examples on Discord for improvement
Mod Breaks After Game Update
Problem: Game updated and the translation mod no longer works.
Solutions:
- Open Mafkers → History
- Click “Re-patch” on the affected project
- Mafkers will re-translate only the changed strings (Smart Re-patching)
- This saves 80-95% of the cost compared to full re-translation
“Anti-Cheat Detected” Warning
Problem: Mafkers shows a warning about anti-cheat when selecting a game.
This is a safety feature. The game uses kernel-level anti-cheat (Vanguard, EasyAntiCheat, BattlEye) that can ban your account for file modification.
Solutions:
- Do not proceed if the game has anti-cheat - your account could be banned
- Mafkers is designed for single-player/offline games only
- If you’re sure the game is single-player (no multiplayer component), you can proceed at your own risk
App Won’t Start
Problem: Mafkers desktop app won’t launch.
Solutions:
Windows
- Check if antivirus blocked the app - add exception
- Run as Administrator
- Reinstall Mafkers
- Check Event Viewer for error details
macOS
- Right-click → Open (bypass Gatekeeper for first launch)
- Check System Preferences → Security & Privacy → allow Mafkers
Linux
- Check if AppImage has execute permission:
chmod +x Mafkers-*.AppImage - Install FUSE if needed:
sudo apt install libfuse2 - Run from terminal to see error:
./Mafkers-*.AppImage

Solutions:
- Check internet connection
- Try different sign-in method (Google, Discord, GitHub, email)
- Clear browser cookies for mafkers.com
- Disable VPN/proxy temporarily
- Contact support@mafkers.com
Performance Issues
Problem: Mafkers is slow or uses too much memory.
Solutions:
- Close other heavy applications
- Mafkers uses ~50MB RAM idle, ~500MB during modding - this is normal
- Large AAA games with 500K+ strings may take 1-3 hours
- Ensure you have at least 4GB RAM
