Custom Glossary
Learn how to create and manage custom glossaries for consistent terminology across your translations.
Mafkers allows you to create custom glossaries for consistent terminology across your translations.
What is a Glossary?
A glossary is a list of terms that should NOT be translated (or should be translated consistently). For example:
- Character names: “Aerith” should always stay “Aerith”
- Place names: “Midgar” should always stay “Midgar”
- Item names: “Buster Sword” should always stay “Buster Sword”
- Skill names: “Firaga” should always stay “Firaga”
How Mafkers Handles Glossary
Mafkers uses a 5-layer proper noun protection protocol:
- Detection: spaCy NER (Named Entity Recognition) detects proper nouns
- Heuristics: Capitalization + frequency analysis
- Glossary: Pre-built or user-provided glossary
- Freeze List: All detected proper nouns are “frozen” (replaced with
<NAME_NNN>placeholders) - Verification: Post-translation check ensures all proper nouns are preserved
Creating a Custom Glossary
